School Bus Drivers Trained To Avoid Mishaps

In less than 2 weeks, there are numerous buses that would crisscross Wake Country. There is a little tolerance for error in such buses as they make around 25,000 stops each day.

Last year, several Wake Country parents complained that their children were dropped off at wrong school bus stop. In Wake Country Public schools, officials said that they were having protocols to keep in place from happening to them again.

Due to such complaints the bus driver would be required to attend defensive driving workshops. Each year their routes were configured which would accommodate new students with them.

So before the school starts, the drivers would be required to take bus for a road test. They would be required to spend half day going out and run their routes which would make certain hit every stop. This is the goal for them but it has never happened. Last year, a Wake bus driver dropped off as a first grade at wrong bus stop which would lead to incidents with year round students.

The best thing one can do in to make certain bus drivers understand the route. At the end of route when the driver would turn off the bus, an alarm would be heard. So to turn off the alarm, bus drivers need to press a button at the back of bus which would force them to walk aside and make sure that no child would be left behind.
The officials for transportation said that they have already added a phone line in their office which would make them better respond to calls or complaints which they might receive at anytime.
