Drive Safely Work Week begins Today
October 4th to the 8th is recognized as the Drive Safely Work Week, which is an annual campaign that has been presented by a collaboration of employers in an attempt to enhance traffic safety.

The Drive Safely Week is supported by the NAFA Fleet Management Association, and its main aim is to lay emphasis on the problem areas of distracted driving. It helps by offering a number of ways for businesses across the country to educate and remind their drivers about the dangers they may face through distracted driving.

This year, the Drive Safely Work Week has an interesting campaign, that pushes businesses all over to set up stringent call phone policies that ban or restrict the usage of cell phones while driving. This campaign will help encourage businesses to spare time and to stress on certain safety driving messages through communication, facts and an assortment of meaningful activities. It also lays emphasis on several methods, like using the call blocking technology and encouraging the employees to commute through public transport or mass transit, which helps to reduce the number of distracted driving accident cases.

Today, business across the United States have started recognizing the importance of keeping their employees safe, and have recently begun to adopt the distracted driving policies to counter these problems. Ray LaHood, the U.S. Transportation secretary, said that, “The materials in this kit are designed to help advance your company's efforts against distracted driving.”

Phillip E. Russo, NAFA's Executive Director, has said that, “Safe driving is essential to the fleet managers who belong to NAFA, a group that collectively manages several million vehicles traveling on North American roads each day.” NAFA has supported this campaign for many years now, and has done so through a series of articles, press releases and e-mail blasts in various print and publications that are associated with the organization.
