Man Charged with DUI

A 54 year old man was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and other such offenses after he ran into another car yesterday in Wilmington. Delaware state police say that 60 year old Oscar Foraker was heading south on the bridge. As he went over the crest, he was struck head on by William Nardo’s car. Both men were hospitalized but sustained minor injuries. Strict measures need to be taken against irresponsible drivers who choose to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Not only are these drivers risking their own lives and that of their passengers, but they also risk injuring and even killing bystanders and other drivers as well. Defensive driving courses have become extremely important, if not a necessity, for drivers across the country.

Christina Aguilera and Boyfriend a “Total Mess”: Caught Drunk Driving

Apart from messing up her Capella National Anthem at the Super Bowl, Christina Aguilera does not seem to let the embarrassment get her down, especially when it comes to her usual “inebriated” escapades. If the Super Bowl mess wasn’t enough to get her in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, she was earlier pulled over with her boyfriend, Matt Rutler in his Mustang near the sunset strip. LA deputies caught him for driving in a drunken state, and Christina was also caught for “public drunkenness”. But is it illegal to be drunk in a car in LA, even if you are not driving? But according to a report in the local newspapers, it turns out that it is standard procedure in a DUI arrest, when officers have the right to decide whether a passenger is too drunk to take care of herself. Christina however, was released earlier today and will not be prosecuted. But she will be facing a misdemeanor arrest on her rap sheet, and has even gone through the process. She was booked, fingerprinted and put ...

Recently, an SUV rolled over and caught fire on the Fort Florida Road. The driver was 18 year old Joshua Ritter who survived along with 17 year old Ryan Jenkins and 18 year old Kenyanna Hawkins. However, 2 youngsters did not survive in the whole mess. Ben Johnson, the Volusia County Sherriff, claims that he feels that horseplay was involved. P-platers should take Crash Courses

For many years now, the government has been emphasizing the importance of taking defensive driving courses, especially for P-platers. Denis Gregory, the president of the Gnoo Blas Classic Car Club has commented after the government made clear about its concern over the financial problems faced by teenagers without a car or in disadvantaged circumstances, as they attempt to complete the required 120 hours of driving. Many people have also opposed plans to reduce theses driving hours, as they claim that it will definitely result in more road accidents. Mr. Gregory on the other hand, has states that best way to ensure that P-platers become better and safer drivers is to teach them how to be defensive behind the wheel. When young drivers get their license, many of them seem to think that they are invincible. But when they find themselves driving in drastic conditions, like in the rains and they find that they are stuck on a corner, in most cases they don’t know how to get out of the situat...

Bystanders the Biggest Threat on the Road

Do you know more than the drivers getting injured in any road accident, it is the bystanders who are mostly hit by cars. Millions of people are killed in road accidents every year and most of the victims are not the drivers but bystanders. There are numerous cases of accidents where people get injured or die when they are struck by moving vehicles. This is a serious yet neglected issue we face today. Especially when the weather is getting cold and roads become icy, the accident rate concerning bystanders can increase manifold. However, we cannot say that only the drivers should take extra care while driving on the road, people walking around should also be careful enough. Cars skidding or sliding are common during winter season. Drivers must drive around busy roads with extra care. Riding fast on icy roads or busy streets must be avoided. It will be of great help if drivers could learn how to drive defensively. Since, you never know what will happen next, you can at least know how to a...

Formula 1 also aiming to Minimize Aggressive Driving

Defensive driving is not only applicable to your everyday road traffic; it now applies to the F1 track as well! For the 2011 season, the FIA has decided to take harsh measures against aggressive or irresponsible driving in an effort to see cleaner and safer driving on the track. Following a meeting last week, the FIA has since laid down a number of sporting and technical regulations for 2011. FIA is all set to bring about more responsible and safer racing in Formula 1, which is why harsh measures will be taken against aggressive driving and those drivers who constantly run off the track to gain advantage. Other maneuvers that intentionally or unintentionally hinder other racers include: changing direction too often, deliberately crowding a car to run off the track, or any other kind of abnormal change in the direction is also not permitted. If drivers are found committing such violation, they are liable to be fined. Likewise, drivers driving regular roadways and highways should pay hee...
