A new safety driving class has been introduced for new and future licensed teens. The California Highway Patrol's Start Smart Program is aimed towards teens aged between fifteen to nineteen, their parents and guardians. The California Highway Patrol officers will be discussing the avoidance techniques of vehicle collision, responsibilities of the driver and the parent, importance of seatbelt usage, etc. Officers who have investigated into deadly collisions involving teens will provide testimonies. The new video, Red Asphalt, which chronicles the aftermath of teenage driver accidents, will also be screened.
