In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, every year, approximately 3,000 young adults between the ages of 15 to 19 are killed. Also, the CDC stated that, “more than 10 patients that were treated in emergency rooms were for wreck-related injuries”. Fortunately, several organizations that 'Fear This' are working to change those statistics. Woodrow Gaines, an important member of Fear This said that, “Our program is an advanced driving training program teaching teens accident avoidance skills.” he further went on to say that, “Our teens are getting into crashes for a million different reasons and part of that is a lack of training.” Gaines even mentioned that these courses teach the same material that is required by police academies. Members of the Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M. in the Air Force Safety Center’s Ground Safety Division have recently received the National Safety Council’s Outstanding Effort award for training young adult drivers. This particular foundation has received accolades from all over for their “sincerity of heart” in training young adult drivers in the art of defensive driving and keeping them safe and sound behind the wheel of their personal vehicles as well as that of Air Force vehicles. Every year, NSC officials conduct strict reviews of all the defensive driving training programs and the number of students being trained. The “Alive at 25” program is dedicated for Airmen, instructors and instructor trainers and has made a significant impact on the lives of many.
